Peak Kamen Del (1862 m) is located in the northern part of Vitosha, above the neighborhoods of Boyana and Dragalevtsi. The northern (Kamendelski) section of Vitosha is named after it. It is a stone dome, with its summit composed of several stone clusters.
To the south, Peak Kamen Del gradually transitions into a barely noticeable saddle (about 20 meters lower in elevation), separating it from the neighboring Vitosha peak Ushite (1906 m).
The peak offers beautiful views in almost all directions. To the north, the view is dominated by the city of Sofia, often shrouded under a thick layer of smog. Beyond the city and the northern edge of the Sofia Field lie the elevations of the Balkan Mountains. Peak Murgash is clearly distinguishable against the backdrop of the surrounding lower ridges. Far to the northwest, some of the higher peaks of the Berkovska Mountain and Koznitsa can be seen, while to the east, the peaks of the Zlatishko-Tetevenska Mountain are visible.
To the southeast, Cherni Vrah and Golyam Rezen, the highest peaks of Vitosha, come into view, with the high peaks of the Musala section of the Rila Mountains appearing to the left of them. To the south, the view is partially obstructed by the neighboring peak Ushite.
From Aleko to Peak Kamen Del
The easiest and quickest route to Peak Kamen Del is from Aleko, which can be reached from Sofia by bus 66 or by personal vehicle. Head northwest, following the yellow stripe markers, which transition to pole markers after the forest. The chosen route crosses the Plateau area, passes by the locked shelter "Ushite," and through the saddle between Mount Ushite and Kamen Del, descending towards the forested Tinteva Hut and further on to the Golden Bridges.
For Peak Kamen Del, shortly after the "Ushite" shelter (about 250 m to the northwest), an unmarked path branches off to the right. The climb is minimal, hindered only by the stone accumulations near the summit. Under normal conditions, the entire distance from Aleko to Kamen Del takes about an hour. For the entire walk (round trip and time spent at the peak), it is advisable to plan at least 3 hours and a bit more.
