In clear weather, Valyavishki Chukar Peak is a great place for watching the sun- and moonrise coming from behind the picturesque shapes of Dzhangala, Momini Dvori, Kralev Dvor and Malka Kamenitsa. The view is really beautiful not just to the east but in all directions. The peak provides a view to Pirin’s most well-known and beautiful peaks, including the distant Vihren and Kutelo as well as to the slopes of Rila, far in the north, beyond the Razlog Valley.
Valyavishki Chukar Peak is located in Northern Pirin, on the main ridge, northwest of Tevno Ezero Shelter. There are two ascent options from the shelter. The first trail starts behind the shelter and goes up towards the saddle between the peaks of Momini Dvori and Valyavishki Chukar; then it turns left and in about 20 minutes climbs the peak. The path isn’t marked but it follows the very rib or just goes near it so there’s no problem following it.
Another way to get to Valyavishki Chukar from the shelter is by starting towards Mozgovishka Porta. At the western end of Tevno Ezero (Tevno Lake) you’ll see an indistinct path that goes straight up towards the narrow saddle between Valyavishki Chukar and the anonymous peak located southwest of it that rises above Mozgovishka Porta. Up on the rib, the path is already clearer and before long it will lead you out on the 2664-metre Valyavishki Chukar.
