Peak Kabul (Vrah Kabul) is situated in the western part of the Rila Mountains, in close proximity to Otovishki vrah and the Seven Rila Lakes. Standing at 2531 meters above sea level, it offers a stunning panoramic view of the peaks of Maliovitsa and Vr. Orlovec, as well as the surrounding mountains, including Osogovo mountain and Vitosha.
If you're planning to climb Peak Kabul, the best route starts from Zeleni Preslap. To get there, you can drive from Sapareva Banya (you can use Google maps to help you with navigation). The trail to top is marked. Follow the white-green-white markings, and brace yourself for a steep ascent that spans about 950 meters in elevation. Initially, the trail passes through a dense coniferous forest, where the incline is steepest. However, as you approach the upper part of the slope and exit the forest, the incline becomes gentler. Along the way, you'll come across markers that guide you towards Vrah Kabul and the Otovitsa hut.
During winter climbs, keep in mind the lack of winter markings, which can make orientation in the open terrain difficult in case of poor visibility.
The time required to climb Peak Kabul is about 3.5-4 hours. With good physical preparation, the distance can be covered in about 3 hours. Considering the steep terrain, it is advisable to carry enough water, especially in the hot summer months.
